Project details :
FE modeling of Door Trim sub assembly of a CAR using HYPERMESH.
Company details : Fexilon Technologies
Duration : 1 month
Discription :
** The scope of the project is to build the FE Model with flow-through mesh for Crash analysis.
** IGES Geometry of the Door Trim sub-assembly of a car was imported.
** Necessary geometry cleanup done. Identified the features like bolt-holes and beads.
** Minimum One layer of washer-mesh generated around the holes and cut-outs.
** Mid surface was extracted were ever required and meshed with 2D(Quad) elements.
** Midsurface extractions for dog-house components was extracted.
** Solids were meshed with 3D( Hexa elements).
** Thickness was assigned to 2D (Quad elements) and penetration check was performed.
** Rotating quads and Diamond quads were used in the transitions.
** Quality parameters were maintained as per Standards.
** Mesh connectivity and Duplicate elements were checked before assembly.
** Assembly was done Using Connectors(Bolts,Seam,Spots..) and Rigid (RBE2,RBAR) elements.
** Pegging was also done in some places.
** The meshed Model was exported in solver readable format (.fem file)
** Solver used was Optistruct.
** Once the meshed Model was satisfied with all the quality parameters Modal analysis was performed to check out the mode shapes of the structure.
** The results were viewed in Hyperview(post processor)
Academic project :
Fatigue analysis of a riveted lap joint using aircraft skin panel
Discription :
** Stress concentration & life of the joint was analytically calculated using stress life approach.
Stress cycles was predicted using good man relation.
** CAD modeling of the geometry has done by catia v5
** FE-modeling was done by using Ansys-workbench. Using separate fatigue tool in ansys the interface has been established using Good man relation in S-N approach
