Project name : Music Signal ProcessingPitch Estimation Problems [Project done in Indian Institute Of Science (IISc, Bangalore)]
Description :
Musical pitch identification is the fundamental problem that serves as a building block for many music applications such as music transcription, music accompaniment, instrument identification, source separation, etc. There is a need for robust and accurate techniques for pitch identification.
Estimated pitch trajectories contain discontinuities owing to spurious pitch values and pitch halving and doubling errors. The objective is to design an algorithm to reduce discontinuities in the pitch trajectories, by examining the type of errors with respect to the ground truth of the note transcription.
From the music signals, their various characteristics are determined.
Pitch trajectories are obtained from "praat" software. The music piece is then transcribed. The transcribed pitch is superimposed on the pitch trajectory. The short time energy and the pitch trajectories are compared. At places of pitch discontinuities, the energy is observed. A consequent change in energy along with the pitch indicates no error whereas; a change in either only the pitch or the energy makes a mention of the error. These areas on the pitch contour are smoothened out to get a better pitch contour with lesser number of errors. We can further extend the work to examine multiple singers and multipitch music such as in accompanying instrument case. Another approach involves determining the probability of the notes in the composition and comparing this probability with that from music theories which convey that any ‘raaga’ is characteristically identified on two most important or frequently occurring notes in it.
Project name : NANO SAT (Ongoing project in CORI {CRUCIBLE OF RESEARCH AND INNOVATION} P.E.S.I.T).
Description :
It is a project in association with ISRO to launch a geostationary satellite to forecast weather terrain of INDIA.
In this project I am working in ground station system. The ground station is an essential link for communicating with a satellite. Its main function involves sending telecommands to the satellite and receiving telemetry and payload data from the satellite.
The project involves the study and design of FSK and FM modulators, local oscillators, BPSK demodulators, Bit synchronizer and Turbo decoder and integration of the all the sub system and testing. The project also involves study and designing of a checkout system involving the generation of testing procedures for each subsystem separately and also the testing of total satellite system after integration.
