ACADEMIC PROJECT:
TITLE: Sheet rolling machine
OBJECTIVE: Construction of a sheet rolling machine to roll the sheet metals into required cylindrical form.
PROJECT DETAILS:
It essentially consists of three rollers of which one is driving. The rollers along with other accessories are mounted on a table at convenient height to enable the operator to impart rotary motion to the driving roller with the help of a handle. The operation of the machine is very simple. The sheet metal is initially cut to the required size depending on the diameter of the cylinder to be rolled. It is then placed on the two rollers at the bottom. Then the top roller is lowered down to rest on the sheet and screwed properly by means top clamps and a screwed fastener at either end of the machine. The handle is then rotated slowly to cause the sheet to bend and move forward. In the process the sheet held in between the rollers rolls into a cylinder of the required diameter.
It is then removed from the machine and welded along the longitudinal seam to make a perfect cylinder.
It was awarded as one among the best models in an exhibition organized by KVG polytechnic college Sullia.
